Weekly Writing Challenge: Protests

Turks Hold a Protest March in Kocaeli

Turkish people often hold protests, and the police usually show up quickly to make sure they are controlled.  I have lived in northwest Turkey (Kocaeli) and southwest Turkey (Antalya)  for the last year and a half and have seen several protest marches.  The protesters usually carry flags and chat slogans.  I’m not sure how effective these marches are, but they are quite common in Turkey.  I believe the right to march in protest is very important, and oppressed is the country where protests are not possible.
